so i read the thread here and what could be going on: is specifically for AMD motherboards when using M.2 drives certain numbers of the SATA ports are disabled usually 1 and 2. This is because several things. i dont think the hard drive is at fault most likely

http://blog.logicalincrements.com/2019/10/pcie-lanes-importance-explanation/m.2 isnt some magic bullet, yes there are HUGE performance possibilities, but a lot of motherboards reuse expensive high speed bus lanes for multiple purposes. there is only so much direct access to the processor and/or chipset you can have.
